Social outreach for hemp and cannabis B2B: LinkedIn and DMs, done for you

LinkedIn won't run your ads. It will let you send a message. We run connection and messaging campaigns to your buyers on LinkedIn, and direct messages on the platforms where your segment actually lives, written by people and handled by people.

Ads are restricted. Messages aren't.

LinkedIn reviews sponsored content by hand, and hemp and cannabis ads regularly fail that review. Company pages, posts, connection requests, and messages are a different story. Cannabis companies are on LinkedIn every day, and the buyers you want are in their feeds.

Social outreach is rarely the first channel for B2B. It's the second, and it makes the first one work better. A buyer who saw your connection request on Tuesday and your email on Thursday knows who you are by the time either one asks for a meeting.

  1. Some buyers don't answer email.

Founders at small brands and operators at cultivation companies often live in their DMs. Email alone misses them.

  2. A profile is proof.

A buyer who gets a cold email checks LinkedIn before replying. If the sender's profile looks real and relevant, the reply rate goes up.

  3. Two touches beat one.

Email plus LinkedIn produces more meetings than either channel alone, from the same list.

What the social track includes

Profile setup

We rewrite the headline, about section, and featured content on the profile that does the outreach (yours or a team member's), so it reads as a credible hemp and cannabis operator, not a sales account.

Targeting from the same ICP

The buyer list built for email drives the social track. Same segments, same roles, same exclusions. No separate targeting exercise.

Connection campaigns

Short, specific connection notes. Volume kept inside platform limits so the account stays healthy. Roughly 80 to 100 connection requests per week per profile.

Messaging sequences

After connection: a value-first message (the reverse lead magnet in DM form), a follow-up, and a specific ask. Three to four touches over two to three weeks. No pitch in the connection note.

Reply handling

Same rule as email: a human answers every reply inside one business day, books interested buyers, and routes not-now's into follow-up.

Add-on · optional

Content support

Two to four short posts per month from the outreach profile, on topics your buyers care about. Keeps the profile active so connection requests get accepted. Optional.

Where else your buyers are

LinkedIn is the default for B2B. It isn't the only place. Depending on your segment, we run direct-message outreach on:

  • Instagram

for brand founders, boutique retailers, and smaller wholesale buyers who run their business from their phone. Hemp and cannabis brands are heavily present here. Ads are restricted; DMs are not.

  • Industry platforms and marketplaces

where buyers and sellers already have messaging built in.

  • Trade event apps

in the weeks around major shows, when buyers are actively looking.

  • We'll tell you on the discovery call which platforms make sense for your ICP. For most clients it's LinkedIn plus one.

How we keep the account safe and the messages clean

Social outreach has two failure modes: getting the account restricted, and saying something you shouldn't. We manage both.

Account safety

  • Volume stays well inside platform limits. We ramp slowly on new or quiet profiles.

  • No automation that mimics human behavior in ways platforms detect. Sequences are scheduled; messages are reviewed.

  • One profile per campaign. We don't run ten accounts to game the limits.

Message compliance

  • No medical, health, or effect claims. No THC language in outreach.

  • No product images or claims in DMs that would fail a platform's commerce policy.

  • The reverse lead magnet is always something informational: a list, a benchmark, a regulatory note.

The messages are approved by you before the campaign starts, same as email.

Where social sits in the 90 days

See the full timeline
  1. Week 1

ICP defined. We confirm which platforms and which profile.

  2. Week 2

Profile rewritten. Messaging sequence drafted alongside the email sequence. You approve both.

  3. Week 3

Connection campaign starts at low volume as email warm-up finishes.

  4. Week 4 onward

Messaging runs in sync with email. Replies handled daily. Social metrics added to the weekly report: connection requests sent, accepted, messages sent, replies, meetings.

What we can show you

HempAware

HempAware has been building an audience of hemp and cannabis operators since 2005, including 10,000+ across HempAware Radio and the HempAware network. That's where the segment knowledge comes from.

Straight talk

The social outreach system runs on the same partner process as our email track. The one case study we publish is email only: 28,400 cold emails into cannabis retail, 284 replies, 36 opportunities. We do not yet have a published number for the social layer, and we will not invent one. HempLeads is a new brand, so we publish the process and let you judge it.

Book a Discovery Call

Can cannabis companies use LinkedIn?

Yes. LinkedIn allows cannabis and hemp company pages, personal profiles, posts, and messaging. What's restricted is advertising: sponsored content for cannabis products is generally not approved. Organic outreach, which is what we run, is available to every company on the platform.

Whose profile do you use?

Yours, or a team member's, with your permission. Buyers respond to real people at real companies. We don't create fake profiles, and we don't run outreach from a HempLeads account on your behalf.

Will this get my LinkedIn account restricted?

Not at the volumes we run. LinkedIn restricts accounts that send too many connection requests or behave like bots. We stay inside limits, ramp slowly, and keep the profile posting so activity looks like what it is: a person at a company doing business.

Do I have to post content?

No, but it helps. Connection requests from active profiles get accepted more often. If you don't want to write, the optional content support add-on covers two to four short posts a month, drafted for your approval.

Is social outreach included in the base fee?

The base engagement is cold email. Social outreach is a parallel track added on top, and we walk through pricing on the discovery call. Most clients start with email, prove the ICP, then add social in month two or three.

Can you run social outreach without email?

We can, but we usually advise against it. Social alone caps out at platform limits and misses buyers who don't check their inbox on LinkedIn. Email plus social from the same list outperforms either one.

What about Instagram for B2B?

For some hemp and cannabis segments, Instagram DMs are the most direct line to a buyer, especially brand founders and small retailers. We run it where the ICP supports it, with the same compliance rules as everywhere else.

Two channels. One list. More meetings.
